Introductions

We had a wonderful weekend with family, celebrating the 6th birthday of our very spunky little niece! We laughed till we cried playing games, ate birthday cake until we were sick, {that cake looked amazing….and it tasted even better!}, enjoyed the flea market, and as always were surrounded by color, color, color! My sister in law is so very creative in all that she does….it was inspiring to see the labor of her hands.
so good.

Well you all….I must start off with a confession: I WAS A TOTAL SLACKER THIS WEEK!  I had every intention of finishing some furniture for a post on Monday, but would you believe that I played hookie from the studio all week?! I can’t remember the last time that has happened……but with the big deadlines behind me, and the constant push for the last few months….this week was a perfect week for me to take a break……and I totally did!
I really enjoyed my author photo shoot, and spent some time preparing for that……but the rest of my time this week was spent at home doing laundry, making smores beside my new fire pit, my son’s first soccer games, my daughter’s basketball games, coffee and lunch with friends and packing for our trip today to see my brother and his family in NC. It was a great , great week……and I will be ready to be back in the studio next week! I am not making any promises…..but I will try to have some furniture goodness ready to go at some point next week!
 I am really looking forward to hopping in the car with my parents, hubs and kids today and heading to spend the weekend with sweet family. It will be so good….and my sister in law who is an amazing artist, crazy thrifter, and all around creative soul…..has already told me of her plans for us…..and it is going to be so fun!
{p.s. the above photos are more sneekie peekies from the book photo shoots! I know you love me…..}
Have a great weekend friends!

Introductions

  Here are a few crazily cropped shots from the last photo shoot…. so I don’t give too much way…but I hope that you can see a little glimpse of the goodness that has transpired! I have over 30 completed pieces lined up, wrapped in plastic, and stacked to the ceiling in the studio. Each one is different, unique, and ready to party when the book comes out! I can’t wait to reveal the book collection, and hope you all love it as much as I do.
This week however, I will be starting on 5 new pieces that I CAN show you! Woot! I will have a furniture introduction post up next Monday! I hope to appease those of you who are “mad” at me for the lack of furniture posts! {wink!} Believe you me there was a lot of furniture going on in the studio, more than I have ever completed at one time before……but all good things are worth the wait right?! Nod and shake your head “yes” here……

Well my friends, today is the last big scheduled photo shoot for the book! I can’t believe it, and am so excited! There may be a few things that need to be re captured, or more takes of this and that….but the big push, and all of the labor on the furniture is now behind me. I originally was going to create mostly new work but also include some pieces that were already done…..but I ended up creating all new work completely… never before seen….and some creations are very different from what you all are used to. It has been a lotta, lotta hard work, but I am so pleased with the furniture pieces, and am super stoked about pushing myself outside my little safety box. The photographs are beautiful, and I am looking forward to now moving into the layout and design phase where I will see my book come to life.
The hubs and I are celebrating tonight…..and I can’t wait. You all know how amazing he is….and how much I love him right?! ……..:)
Have the best weekend!

Found Goodness

 The older I get, the more I value genuine friendships and true friends. I think all of us have experienced those times in our lives where we realize that people we thought were our friends….really were not there when times got tough, hard, or uncomfortable. It is through the hardest of times that we realize how thankful we are for the friends who are willing to stick by us, support us, and love us no matter what.
There is a quote that I love… “friends pick us up when we fall down, and if they can’t pick us up, they lie down and listen for a while”…
I am so thankful for my friends, how they have surrounded me and overwhelmed me with love and support …..especially these past several months during the book writing process. I am well loved…..and this little note that I found in my mailbox when I got to the studio on Monday made my heart …….melt.
Here’s to the having the best of friends, and being the best friend that we can possibly be to others.
