This book is one of the first purchases I made with some of my birthday money! I spied it a couple months ago while enjoying my weekly reading time at Barnes and Noble, and I knew that I would add it to my collection one day! Well, yesterday was the day….and this book is so beautiful and wonderful and full….so full…..of inspirational and beautiful photos. Very well played, and very well done!
Check out Creative Walls by Geraldine James…..I think you’ll end up bringing it home too!
Have a fantastic weekend! I have lots of fun things to show you next week!

Have we talked about these before? Maybe we have, maybe we haven’t…..but it’s time to visit the possibilities of a wall full of “book shelves”….such a great idea, and so full of color and quirk!
This week was another super busy week at the studio. Three pieces of furniture got their beautiful on and I can’t wait to show you them next week! Also I bought a BIG new toy {aka paint sprayer!}….and that is always a good thing my friends!

17 years….on the 17th

What would life be without the existence of fresh, beautiful flowers? Blegh! I don’t even want to know, and the thought sends shivers up my spinage. I love fresh flowers, and will splurge on them as much as possible, but this week
I was showered with floral goodness by Brandi from Anna Jewel Floral . Brandi called me up to tell me that she was going out of town, and had all of the flowers left over from a wedding festival she had done the day before………and could I use them? Believe it or not I was at Whole Foods standing in line with a bunch of flowers I would need that day for a furniture shoot! I turned right around, skipped out of line, and promptly put back the flowers I was going to buy! Imagine my sheer freak out jig when these flowers showed up at the studio about an hour later? I had fun playing all day and it was hard to get any work done becasue I just wanted to photograph and stare all day. Thank you Brandi!
If you are local please check out Brandi and her beautiful flowers…..you may find tht you can’t live without her creations at your next special occasion!
AND…..speaking of special occasions…..drum roll please! Today is our 17 year wedding anniversary!! Woot! We are heading to the mountains for a couple of nights and will be kayaking down the river tomorrow…..I am so excited! We have been looking so forward to getting away and just being together …..it’s been too long!
I am so blessed to have the love of this amazing man and am thankful for the years we have had together and the many blessings that have come our way. We have so much to be thankful for, and we celebrate all of these things today!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

This piece was given to me this week….and yes I did say given. I will be doing a couple custom pieces for this particular client, but she wanted to just leave this one with me because she felt like in its current state it was not worth much…and would be better off in my hands. I shook my head “yes!” vigorously and could barely keep my dance moves in check until she walked out the door!  Can you even believe this good fortune? This gorgeous girl just needs a few minor tweaks and a new drawer bottom and she will be good as new. I can’t wait to transform her…..
I can’t believe another week has flown by so fast. So much was accomplished this week, and I just want to publicly say that I  am so thankful for the many blessings and goodness that have come my way. I am so full.
Have a great weekend!

It is so good for us creatives to meet…..embrace our differences and “alikes” {aka similarities}…..recharge our creative batteries…banter and carry on….yada, yada. I enjoyed every minute!
Please be sure to visit these lovely friends, check out their work, and say hello :

I have lots of little random tidbits for today’s post, so hang on….I’ll try to keep it interesting!
First, I have had a few emails about why there have not been any new Design Sponge posts, so I wanted to fill you all in. My contract with D*s was for one year, and that year was up May 1! I cannot believe a year went by that fast! It is so crazy how time flies! I enjoyed my year of writing , and it stretched me and grew me in ways I never even saw coming! Design Sponge is a fantastic platform, and I am so thankful for the experiences and opportunities that came my way. There are some really exciting things happening this summer including the first Design Sponge book, which will be launching soon {there is some Knack in it! woot!} and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! I will be sure to let you all know the details as soon as I know them!
Second, I have an intern for the whole Summer! Double Woot! I was so excited when I got a phone call from one of the local colleges here in town asking about a possible internship with a creative business! I was like “shoot yeah” I would love to partake in that goodness! So, we went through the process of meeting, coming up with a plan, and I am happy to say that yesterday was miss Hattie’s first day! What a day it was too…I broke her in really well! I got a phone call from a magazine {that I knew was courting a Knack story, and we had already done some initial work} in the morning, and they wanted to shoot the studio in the afternoon! How’s that for a heads up?! The photographers are here for about four days, but due to my next tidbit to share, I had to be first on the docket…so, we became  crazy girls getting the studio ready for the shoot! I have to say that Hattie is worth her weight in gold after just one day! Girlfriend came up with vignettes while I wasn’t even looking….didn’t have to ask…she just did….and she was spot on. That my friends is awesomeness! It all came together beautifully, and the mag peeps flipped out about the studio…so here’s to hoping we make the issue. I’ll be sure to let you know! My last statement to Hattie before we walked out the door at the end of the day was “welcome to Knack studio….where we really mean it when we say “creative business”! Especially the creative part… Fun times….

Thirdly,  I am headed up the road today with my pal Lily! Road trip! We are headed to the Lucketts Spring Market to check out the goodness, and I am also looking forward to meeting some of my blog pals….Marian, and Cassie! I have been wanting to meet up with them for like ever….totally…so I am stoked!
They will both be selling at the market, and will be extremely busy, but we hope to get to hang out a bit and just enjoy finally meeting one another!

I am sooooo excited about road trippin’ with my crazy girl and seeing what mischief we can get into! Fun times and crazy people just seem to gravitate to us when we are together, so it will be interesting to see what stories we will tell after this trip! We always say that one day we are going to write a book and fill it with all of our stories. Need to get to work on that.
I hope to have lots of photos to share next week, and I’ll be posting photos to the Knack Facebook page along the way this weekend!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Let’s try this little DIY again….

The hubs and I installed a new mailbox a few months back, and there was a piece of 4×4 post left over…..so, I had an idea to turn these scraps into candle cubes. Crazy…I know…but here’s how I did it:
1. Cut your 4×4 post into even portions using a saw. Disclaimer: Please use all safety precautions when operating a saw
2.Your blocks should look something like this when cut
3. Use a 7/8″ drill bit to cut a circle in the top of your cube. This will need to be to the size of the candle, so measure accordingly. I just usually eye ball the center and go for it, but measure if you must!
4. Sand your cube until it is nice and smooth
5. I then taped off my cube in a striped pattern and painted away.
6. I also stamped the word “shine” on one of the cubes. Let your lights shine friends!

For the final step I sprayed a couple coats of lacquer on for extra protection….and there ya have it!

I had a friend walk in the studio, see these, and purchase them immediately…. so these guys are already taken but I will make more, so if you would like a set just let me know!

{It took me forever to get Blogger to upload these photos. I sure hope this gets fixed soon! If any of you have found any other solutions besides switching from old to new editor and buying more storage on picasa…let me know!}

JB, the shorties, and I headed out of town yesterday for a long weekend in Nashville.   I knew that I would need some pretty things to look at along the way, so I packed these three books to keep me busy ….and let me tell you….I was not able to put the first one that I picked up….down. Holly Becker, who is the creative mastermind behind Decor8 just recently launched her first book, Decorate…..and it is wonderful! So much information is packed into this book, and it had me so inspired…I was furiously “writing things down” on my mental sketchpad! Every photo had me thinking of different ways to design rooms in my home, and inspired me to change out doors, add new front doors, buy more books, get new light fixtures and ….oh my word….I wanted to turn the car around and head home to get started! So much thought went into this book and it deserves every bit of the fantastic attention it is getting right now!
….and not to discount the other two books ….they are wonderful too…but I will tell you about them another day!
For now I am going to sign off until next week, and enjoy some time off with my fam. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
